The Lorena community is grieving the heartbreaking loss of Landon Harris, an 18-year-old high school senior whose life was tragically cut short in a car accident. Landon’s passing has left an unfillable void in the hearts of all who knew and loved him — his family, friends, teammates, coaches, and teachers. Landon was more than a student — he was a fierce competitor, a loyal friend, and a young man of strength, courage, and heart. Those who had the privilege of knowing him speak of a boy who brought energy into every room, fire onto every field, and loyalty into every friendship.
We watched Landon grow from a fearless peewee football player into a young man of character and grit. His former coach and friend shared, “I coached Landon alongside his dad from peewee all the way through. Kid was a dog — if we needed a big play, you bet your ass Landon Harris was on the field.” That determination and heart was who Landon was, both in sports and in life. The Harris family was one of the first to welcome so many into the Lorena community. Their kindness and warmth have left a lasting impact, and now in this time of unimaginable pain, they are being held up by the same community they helped build.
As we mourn the loss of Landon, we also celebrate the light he was. His legacy will live on in every life he touched — the teammates who ran beside him, the friends who laughed with him, and the family who loved him beyond measure.
