West passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Wandsworth Common Care Home, after a three-month hospital stay caused by complications following a fall, an inquest has confirmed. West was a towering figure in British theatre and television, beloved for his commanding performances and unforgettable screen presence. He was perhaps most familiar to modern audiences through his roles in EastEnders, where he portrayed Stan Carter from 2014 to 2015, and Coronation Street, appearing as Eric Babbage in 2013. His versatility also saw him take on roles in the satirical comedy Brass, and as a recurring character in the popular sitcom Not Going Out.
Born in 1933, Timothy West’s passion for acting was evident from an early age. Over the years, he built an illustrious career on both stage and screen, appearing in countless Shakespearean productions, classical dramas, and contemporary works.
