Tribute for Ian Conner:
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ian Conner of Brookings, South Dakota, a beloved friend, creative spirit, and unforgettable presence in the lives of many. Ian passed away unexpectedly, leaving behind a wave of memories and a legacy of laughter, inspiration, and music. Ian was a unique soul—one of those rare people who could light up a room without even trying. Known for his sense of humor, loud snoring, and deep love for music and art, Ian touched lives in quiet but lasting ways. A friend recalled drawing his portrait 14 years ago using MS Paint, a tribute to Ian’s lasting influence and magnetic personality. His unfiltered spirit even became the heart of a fondly remembered joke—his snoring once remixed into a wild dubstep track in 2012, a memory that continues to bring smiles.
In his early years, Ian unknowingly inspired friends to create art and explore music, simply by being himself. He was a familiar face at gatherings, always ready to support friends during their creative pursuits. Whether crashing on someone’s couch or showing up for late-night jam sessions, Ian’s presence was both comforting and unforgettable.
Though time and distance grew between some friendships, the news of Ian’s passing brought a wave of reflection and heartfelt realization of just how much he meant to those who knew him. One friend shared, “I didn’t realize how much he meant to me until I got this news. I would’ve worked harder to reconnect had I known he was leaving so soon.” Ian was a part of something bigger than himself—a community, a brotherhood, a shared chapter of youth and creativity. His friends and loved ones will forever carry pieces of him in old tracks, sketches, inside jokes, and cherished memories. As we mourn his passing, we also celebrate the joy he brought. Ian Conner, thank you for being a part of our story. You will be missed more than words can say. Rest easy, big dawg.
